He soon hit the road playing the Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma club circuit with the top artists and bands in the region. Like many of his fellow contemporaries he attended South Plains College to take part in their Music Business Program. Alex made the move to Nashville in 1986 and soon became one of Nashville’s most popular live drummers playing and touring with such acts as Pam Tillis, Marty Haggard, Leon Russell, Edgar Winter, Kevin Welch, Kelly Willis, The Kingsnakes and Lionel Cartwright. Alex soon found himself on the forefront of the 90’s young country boom with Tracy Lawrence and Lee Ann Womack then cut his teeth as a Master Session drummer playing on records with both Lionel Cartwright and Tracy Lawrence. Alex continued to play live including television appearances on Jay Leno, CMT Unplugged, CMT, Live at the Grand Ole Opry, Nashville Now and Hee Haw and many more. In 1995 Alex came off the road to take a position as Director of AR for Sony Records working in a creative capacity with the careers of the Dixie Chicks, Colin Raye, Ricochet, Wade Hayes, Patty Loveless, Joe Diffie, Doug Stone, The Mavericks, Billy Gilman and others. He then moved over to a Sr. Director of AR position still in the Sony family with award-winning producer songwriter Don Cook overseeing the careers of Alabama, Brooks and Dunn, Wade Hayes, The Mavericks, Joe Diffie, Lonestar. While continuing to work within the Sony network, Alex was offered his own co-venture with the company by Sony Music President Donna Hilley bringing on such writers as Asylum Recording Artist, Chad Austin, Dreamworks Recording Artist Michelle Poe, Emma Fox and Troy Johnson. During his run with Sony Music Alex secured over 40 major record label chart-topping singles including: #1 “He Left A Lot To Be Desired” recorded by Rick Trevino, Top 5 singles, “Broken Wing” recorded by Martina McBride, “Some Days You Gotta Dance” recorded by the Dixie Chicks; and others by Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, Brian White, Chris LeDoux and others. While working with the label Alex was contacted by Henry Juszkiewicz of Gibson Guitar to oversee the Entertainment Relations Division headquartered in Nashville, as a Marketing executive to develop a variety of co-branding opportunities worldwide. Alex still maintains his entrepreneurial spirit continuing to oversee the companies that he started along the way and is bringing all of his experiences together to help guide the clients of TMM
